State Bar of Texas President Steve Benesh will provide remarks during the University of Houston Law Pioneers Heritage Celebration scheduled for 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on September 20 in the John M. O’Quinn Law Building at the University of Houston Law Center. The event will also be held virtually.

The event will feature a panel of prominent UH Law Center graduates, including former Supreme Court of Texas Justice Ruby K. Sondock, the first woman to serve on the Supreme Court of Texas in 1982. The panel will also include fellow UH Law alumni Tony Bonilla, partner in Bonilla and Chapa; Judge (Ret.) Phyllis Randolph Frye, formerly an associate judge of the city of Houston Municipal Courts; Jim Lemond, a retired partner in Winstead; and William Y. Sim, a partner in the Sim Law Office. The discussion will center on how the panelists’ legal journeys continue to influence the current legal landscape.
