In Memoriam for November 2021

The State Bar of Texas’ Membership Department was informed in November 2021 of the deaths of these members. We join the officers and directors of the State Bar in expressing our deepest sympathy.

• Cathy Ann Anderson, 61, of Bellaire, died February 25, 2021. She received her law degree from Tulane Law School and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2002.
• Daniel Lewis Armstrong III, 83, of Austin, died October 14, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1966.
• Charles F. Aycock, 80, of Midland, died November 9, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1967.
• Stephen Barnett, 67, of Chubbuck, Idaho, died December 19, 2020. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1989.
• Elisabeth S. Brodyaga, 81, of San Benito, died October 28, 2021. She received her law degree from the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1979. Brodyaga was admitted to the District of Columbia Bar in 1975.
• Charles Alvin Brown, 82, of Austin, died October 26, 2021. He received his law degree from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1967.
• George K. Buchanan, 59, of Dallas, died October 28, 2021. He received his law degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1993.
• Carl O. Bue Jr., 98, of Houston, died December 24, 2020. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1953.
• Daniel Shaun Cahill, 55, of Albany, New York, died October 4, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1991.
• Garnett E. Caldwell, 87, of Galveston, died August 27, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1958.
• Charles E. Cheever Jr., 93, of San Antonio, died October 29, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1956.
• Norman L. Chersky, 78, of Houston, died May 23, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1970.
• Cynthia Grinstead Craft, 62, of Houston, died June 11, 2021. She received her law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1985.
• Lucinda Daniels, 47, of Pearland, died June 4, 2021. She received her law degree from Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2001.
• Angela Dickerson, 55, of Seguin, died October 18, 2021. She received her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1990.
• William J. Durkin III, 61, of Weatherford, died February 20, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1983.
• Michael C. Esparza, 60, of Cedar Park, died October 11, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1988.
• Deborah E. Farris, 70, of Dallas, died October 29, 2021. She received her law degree from Howard University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1979.
• William Fielder, 83, of Lockhart, died November 4, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1965.
• Robert C. Floyd, 86, of Healdsburg, California, died November 1, 2020. He received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1963.
• Anton E. Fraps IV, 59, of Clyde, North Carolina, died October 24, 2020. He received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1993.
• James L. Gallagher, 84, of El Paso, died October 20, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1963.
• James Wayne Gent, 79, of Kaufman, died October 29, 2021. He received his law degree from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1973.
• Grover Sebron Grimes Jr., 69, of Houston, died January 19, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1980.
• Andrew M. Grimland, 56, of Manvel, died October 27, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1990.
• Jay L. Gueck, 85, of Arlington, died August 27, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Colorado Law School and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1985. Gueck was admitted to practice in Colorado in 1963.
• Gary Hach, 62, of Southlake, died August 23, 2020. He received his law degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1991.
• Catherine Sweeney Hinkle, 92, of Austin, died October 27, 2021. She received her law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1994. Sweeney was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 1978.
• Carroll Gene Hix Jr., 70, of Bryan, died June 11, 2021. He received his law degree from Baylor Law School and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1979.
• Michael B. Hunter, 86, of San Antonio, died October 3, 2021. He received his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1962.
• James Otis Kelly III, 86, of Houston, died November 30, 2020. He received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1961.
• Scott Kimball III, 65, of Victoria, died October 9, 2021. He received his law degree from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1982.
• Daniel Robert Kirshbaum, 78, of Houston, died October 22, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1969.
• Charles T. Lambright, 75, of Spring, died January 18, 2021. He received his law degree from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1974.
• Beverly Landers, 65, of Austin, died October 25, 2021. She received her law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1983.
• Kyle Lebby, 39, of Fort Worth, died December 30, 2020. He received his law degree from SMU Dedman School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2015.
• Bobby Joe Mann, 77, of Meridian, died June 28, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1969.
• Mike Manos, 81, of Austin, died November 8, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1967.
• George D. Martin, 89, of Galveston, died October 31, 2021. He received his law degree from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1962.
• Catherine Molloy, 40, of Houston, died August 28, 2020. She received her law degree from South Texas College of Law Houston and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2017.
• Gregory J. Mullins, 65, of Danville, Alabama, died September 28, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1987. Mullins was admitted to practice in Arkansas in 1982.
• Laura Sue Murrell, 77, of Galveston, died November 24, 2020. She received her law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2000. Murrell was admitted to the Kentucky Bar in 1967.
• Shirley Pardee Napier, 68, of Galveston, died February 21, 2021. She received her law degree from Syracuse University College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1980.
• Thomas C. Newhouse, 86, of Bellaire, died August 29, 2021. He received his law degree from NYU School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1977. Newhouse was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar in 1962.
• Sarah Nickodam, 31, of San Antonio, died September 7, 2020. She received her law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2015.
• Debra Orlowski, 66, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died November 8, 2020. She received her law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2000. Orlowski was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar in 1978.
• Robert C. Patterson, 87, of Copperas Cove, died September 22, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1962.
• Robert F. Ritter, 92, of San Antonio, died October 9, 2021. He received his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1958.
• Gilbert Saenz, 44, of Freer, died October 16, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2002.
• Suzan R. Sanders, 65, of Wichita Falls, died September 30, 2021. She received her law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1981.
• Vernon T. Sanford Jr., 88, of San Antonio, died November 12, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1964.
• Charles W. Schiesser, 88, of Washington, D.C., died November 14, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1979. Schiesser was admitted to practice in Minnesota in 1958.
• John Link Schmid, 68, of Humble, died September 25, 2021. He received his law degree from Albany Law School and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1981. Schmid was admitted to practice in New York in 1978.
• Martin O. Siegmund, 91, of Aledo, died November 3, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1958.
• Ernest A. Simon, 88, of Austin, died November 1, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1967.
• Jeffrey Brooks Thomas, 73, of Dallas, died June 12, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2004. Thomas was admitted to the California Bar in 1980.
• Julius Lavon Thompson, 49, of McKinney, died May 3, 2020. He received his law degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1999.
• L. David Trapnell, 88, of Georgetown, died October 2, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1964. Trapnell was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar in 1956.
• Juan Vargas, 40, of Galveston, died August 24, 2020. He received his law degree from Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2010.
• Nancy Ann Vasquez, 52, of Corpus Christi, died March 2, 2021. She received her law degree from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1994.
• Edward G. Vaughan, 72, of Boerne, died February 18, 2021. He received his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1975.
• Alan L. Yaffe, 75, of Bandera, died September 6, 2021. He received his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1973.
• David P. Zavoda, 73, of Parkland, Florida, died October 8, 2020. He received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1976.
