The State Bar of Texas’ Membership Department was informed in October 2021 of the deaths of these members. We join the officers and directors of the State Bar in expressing our deepest sympathy.

James Arruebarrena, 67, of New Orleans, Louisiana, died June 26, 2020. He received his law degree from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2006. Arruebarrena was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 1993.
Robert F. Ashley, 95, of Dallas, died September 15, 2021. He received his law degree from George Washington University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1952.
Roy Lewis Barnes, 64, of Dickinson, died September 29, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1989.
Taylor S. Boone, 72, of San Antonio, died September 15, 2021. He received his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1980.
Erick Arthur Bovik, 66, of Austin, died September 6, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1995.
John D. Carlos, 71, of San Antonio, died May 16, 2021. He received his law degree from Baylor Law School and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1975.
Patricia Helen Collins, 72, of San Antonio, died July 3, 2021. She received her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1993. Collins was admitted to the Wisconsin Bar in 1992.
Ray Cox Jr., 63, of Houston, died October 18, 2021. He received his law degree from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1989.
Charles R. Curson, 80, of Georgetown, died October 4, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1966.
John Ellis Jr., 76, of Sherman, died September 23, 2021. He received his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1972.
Frances T. Farenthold, 94, of Houston, died September 26, 2021. She received her law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1949.
Laura Davidson Fowell, 42, of Cypress, died August 18, 2021. She received her law degree from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2003.
Dale Friend, 80, of Zephyr Cove, Nevada, died September 27, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1966.
Oscar G. Gabaldon Jr., 64, of El Paso, died December 3, 2020. He received his law degree from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1982.
Leonard Giblin Jr., 80, of Port Arthur, died September 25, 2021. He received his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1968.
Terry Reed Goodman, 83, of Waco, died June 30, 2021. She received her law degree from Baylor Law School and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1964.
Andrew J. Hix, 71, of Boerne, died August 20, 2021. He received his law degree from Baylor Law School and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1980.
John A. Hixson, 65, of Hughes Springs, died October 2, 2021. He received his law degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1982.
Mark Johnson, 71, of Colleyville, died October 14, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1983.
Michael Laviage, 73, of Houston, died October 1, 2021. He received his law degree from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1974.
Thomas J. Maspero, 73, of San Antonio, died October 8, 2021. He received his law degree from Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1979.
Charles M. Matkin, 84, of Spring, died August 28, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1961.
Thomas R. Matthews, 74, of Dallas, died August 11, 2021. He received his law degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1972.
John H. McCall, 74, of Uvalde, died October 11, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1973.
Jeffrey Scott Mecom, 55, of Dallas, died October 12, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1991.
Christopher David Montez, 46, of Plano, died August 30, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2001.
Joan Cecilia Moran, 86, of O’Fallon, Missouri, died December 23, 2020. She received her law degree from the University of Missouri College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1989. Moran was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 1984.
S. Tom Morris, 101, of Amarillo, died October 5, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1946.
Richard R. Morrison III, 82, of Austin, died October 2, 2021. He received his law degree from Baylor Law School and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1965.
David Murguia Jr., 92, of San Antonio, died October 6, 2021. He received his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1957.
James J. Murphy III, 62, of Dallas, died August 10, 2021. He received his law degree from Whittier College School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1989.
Thomas M. Niland, 79, of El Paso, died September 26, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1966.
Robert Carl Pfullmann Jr., 72, of McQueeney, died August 27, 2021. He received his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1998.
Merwyn Price, 74, of Dallas, died August 28, 2021. He received his law degree from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1980.
Sal Rebe, 85, of El Paso, died September 25, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1967.
Bruce Robertson Jr., 86, of San Antonio, died October 14, 2021. He received his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1963.
Michael A. Robison, 73, of Houston, died September 9, 2020. He received his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1974.
Marla Camille Savant, 63, of Dallas, died December 30, 2020. She received her law degree from LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1993.
Glenn Allen Scott, 77, of Austin, died August 17, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1968.
Jack Shriver, 87, of Georgetown, died September 18, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1967.
Philip B. Smith Jr., 81, of Paris, died August 26, 2021. He received his law degree from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1969.
Jorge A. Solis, 70, of DeSoto, died October 8, 2021. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1976.
Robert W. Spears, 94, of Nashville, Tennessee, died August 14, 2021. He received his law degree from Emory University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1991. Spears was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1951.
Leonard J. Sullivan, 85, of Houston, died September 24, 2021. Sullivan received his law degree from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1970. Sullivan was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 1965.
Robert Arch Whittington, 66, of South Padre Island, died May 11, 2018. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1976.
