The team from Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas won the 42nd Annual Texas High School Mock Trial Competition on March 6 at a virtual competition.
Booker T. Washington High School’s team will represent Texas at the 2021 Virtual National High School Mock Trial Competition from May 13 to May 15.
Twenty Texas high school teams competed in the competition where teams argued a hypothetical criminal case written by Dallas Bar Association attorneys.
Judges and attorneys served as jurors and selected teams that were best prepared and demonstrated exceptional presentation skills.
Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet in Dallas and Plano West Senior High School were semi-finalists. Hanan Yousef, of Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet, received the 2021 Outstanding Advocate Award; Meredith Salter, of Covenant Classical School, received the 2021 Outstanding Witness Award; and Chelsea Li, of Plano High School, received first place in the 2021 Courtroom Artists Competition.
