Gov. Greg Abbott appointed Rebeca Aizpuru Huddle, of Houston, to replace Texas Supreme Court Justice Paul Green, who retired on August 31, 2020.
Huddle, an El Paso native, is currently a managing partner in the Houston office of Baker Botts. She was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry to the 1st Court of Appeals in Houston in August 2011 and served until June 2017.
“Rebeca Huddle brings remarkable experience to the court,” said Chief Justice Nathan L. Hecht in a press release. “A litigator who has spent her career in the courtroom, seven years as an appellate justice and, most recently, managing the flagship office of one of Texas’ oldest and largest law firms. She will serve the people of Texas with distinction and the court is proud to have her join us.”
