Veterans in need of legal advice or legal assistance can visit a free legal clinic in Harris County on Saturday, December 7. The clinic takes place at the Katy VA Outpatient Clinic, 750 Westgreen Blvd., Katy 77450 and runs from 9 a.m. to noon.

Any veteran or spouse of a deceased veteran can receive one-on-one advice and counsel from a volunteer attorney in any area of law, including family law, wills and probate, consumer law, real estate law, and tax law, as well as disability and veterans benefits.

Qualifying veterans in need of ongoing legal representation may be assigned a pro bono attorney through the Houston Volunteer Lawyers, or HVL, to handle their case.

The clinic is sponsored by the Katy Bar Association, Austin County Bar Association, and the Veterans Legal Initiative, with funding from the Texas Access to Justice Foundation.

Additionally, the HBA and HVL sponsor weekly Friday afternoon (1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.) clinics for veterans at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, Mental Health Building 108-A, 2002 Holcombe Blvd., Houston 77030. For more information, go to hba.org.
