Nancy Gray, director of communications for the Austin Bar Association, accepts a National Association of Bar Executives Communications Section Luminary Award from Mike Leme, manager of marketing and sales at Fastcase.

The Austin Bar Association took home two Luminary Awards from the National Association of Bar Executives, or NABE, Communications Section Workshop held in late September in Cleveland, Ohio.

The Austin Bar won Best PR/Marketing/Social Media Campaign for its 2019 “Fly Me to the Moon” Austin Bar Foundation Gala and Best Special Projects Campaign for the “Our Home on Judges Hill” Capital Campaign. Both awards were in the small bar category for bars with nine or less staff members.

The “Fly Me to the Moon” campaign resulted in nearly 600 people attending the fundraising gala in January 2019 and raised more than $70,000 for the Austin Bar Foundation’s pro bono projects.

The “Our Home on Judges Hill” campaign helped to raise more than $1 million for the purchase of a historic home in the Judges Hill neighborhood in Austin. The home will serve as the headquarters for the Austin Bar Association and Austin Bar Foundation and will be known as Hilgers House, named for William B. Hilgers, a past president of the Austin Bar and a past chair of the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors and Texas Bar Foundation. Hilgers also helped create the Texas Center for Legal Ethics and Professionalism and served as its board chair.
