August 29. The Spendlove family just got bigger by exactly 7 pounds and 14 ounces. Last week a little after midnight, Geoffrey Hinkson and I received an excited text message from Chris:
“Scarlett Lin Spendlove!
Born at 7:43 pm!”
With the birth of baby Scarlett, Chris and Jorden are now the proud parents of three children and we can’t be any more excited for them. I’ll go out on a limb and say this may be the most exciting part of an already exciting year for the young family.
In the lead-up to their due date, Chris wondered how a third child would change the family dynamic. With Scarlett here now, he can’t imagine his life or family without her, he told us.
“I am in absolute awe of my incredible, powerful wife and I feel so blessed to be this sweet little girl’s daddy,” he said.
So while we leave Chris alone during his paternal leave, we look forward to catching up with him and the family in Waco at the end of September. Chris recently got a lead role in a production of Oklahoma! at the Waco Civic Theatre, his first musical since he moved back to Texas. We’ll soon get the chance to see how the city’s newest assistant district attorney and his family spend their time away from law work.
