Daniel K. Worthington, of Ramon Worthington in Edinburg, is now the nominating chair for the Texas Bar Foundation’s District 12. In this role, he will help identify elite nominees to join as fellows.

Worthington has been a licensed attorney since 1992 and is a founding member of Ramon Worthington, which also includes an office in Austin. A former U.S. Army captain, he is active in veterans’ causes.

“The Texas Bar Foundation represents what we as attorneys who are privileged to practice in Texas should all be doing,” Worthington said in a press release. “I look forward to another year of helping this tremendous organization continue to serve our [s]tate.”

Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation are members of the State Bar of Texas, representing the top one-third of one percent of Texas attorneys. Upon selection, they must be elected by the board of trustees. Since the foundation’s inception in 1965, membership has grown from 255 charter members to more than 10,000 fellows across the state.

As part of its mission to use financial contributions of its membership to enhance the rule of law and justice systems in Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation has contributed more than $21 million to nonprofits. More than $1 million is projected to be distributed for grants this fiscal year.
