Editor’s Note: In this blog series, we are getting to know the members of the Texas Young Lawyers Association Board of Directors. TYLA, commonly called the “public service arm” of the State Bar of Texas, works to facilitate the administration of justice, foster respect for the law, and advance the role of the legal profession in serving the public. All TYLA programs are accomplished through the volunteer efforts of its board and committee members, with the cooperation of local affiliate young lawyers associations. Learn more at tyla.org.

How did you get involved in bar service? I am always open to opportunities to serve my community, and my curiosity led me to TYLA.

What is your favorite TYLA project and why? I really enjoyed launching the Young Gunners podcast. See https://tyla.org/resource/young-gunners-podcast/. I think it is a project that addresses a lot of topics in small segments and allows young attorneys and students to learn from different well-established practitioners.

What tips can you give to other attorneys to manage stress? Find your equilibrium.  For me, it is a balance of family, work, and physical health.

What do you do in your spare time? Play soccer or go on a walk with my wife.

Anything else you wish to share? I want to encourage young lawyers to get involved in their community either through bar service, pro bono, or other community service organizations. Many times we think we are the ones giving when in truth, we also receive and learn from the people we meet in these organizations.
