The “People’s Law School” returns to the University of Houston on April 1.

The event, sponsored by the Houston Lawyer Referral Service and the Center for Consumer Law at the University of Houston Law Center, will host more than 40 volunteer lawyers, judges, and law professors as they teach courses for the public in 15 different areas of law.

Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on the main campus of the University of Houston Law Center. The event intends to provide useful information about personal rights and everyday law people can use.

Class topics include immigration, family, business, criminal, employment, health insurance, and consumer law; how to use small claims court; credit and debt collection; taxes; wills; social security law; landlord-tenant relations; and other topics.

While the “People’s Law School” is free, you must pre-register here to attend. Registration is limited to the first 1,000 people.
