The Houston legal community raised more than $725,000 for pro bono at its annual fall event this month.
The 67th Harvest Celebration—the largest fundraising event sponsored by the Houston Bar Association, Houston Bar Foundation, and Houston Bar Association Auxiliary—supports the Houston Volunteer Lawyers, a project that provides free legal services for veterans, the elderly, those with disabilities, and other low-income individuals in the community.
Almost 900 Houston Bar Association members and guests attended the November 14 gathering, which brought in $725,250, HBA officials said in a news release.
The Harvest Celebration was designated as a fundraiser 17 years ago and since then it has raised more than $6.75 million for pro bono efforts in Harris County.
