Veterans and their families can get free legal help at an upcoming Austin Bar Association clinic.

austin-bar-logo-markAttorney volunteers provide brief, free legal advice at the association’s monthly clinics geared toward military veterans, which this month is on June 13 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Austin VA Outpatient Clinic at 7901 Metropolis Dr.

Attendees must arrive by 3:30 p.m. to receive help.

The volunteer lawyers will not be able to provide legal services such as wills or assistance with divorce filing at the clinic but will refer to local resources if additional assistance is needed.

The Austin Bar Association asks veterans to bring any paperwork relevant to their case, including claims, correspondence, and any rulings from a court, agency, or Veterans Affairs. Those seeking veterans benefits or a discharge upgrade should bring a copy of their DD214 and any related evidence.

Attorneys wishing to volunteer at the clinic can register here.

Details on future legal clinics can be found on the Austin Bar Association’s website.
