“Answer: Your inbox explodes. Question: What happens when your law firm is an answer on Jeopardy?”
That was the tweet Thomas Melsheimer, Dallas managing partner in Fish & Richardson, sent out Tuesday after getting a barrage of emails that his firm—and three others—was mentioned on the popular primetime game show.

Sidley Austin was the other firm with a Texas office in the “Law Firms” category in the Double Jeopardy round, though its answer focused on the firm’s lobbying efforts in Washington, D.C.
For the $1,600 answer, contestants were told that top patent law firm Fish & Richardson specializes in IP and asked to identify what the acronym is short for.
A middle school English teacher from Des Moines, Iowa—who would go on to win the game—got the right answer—or in this case, question.
“What is intellectual property?”
