The Dallas Bar Association will present the Martin Luther King Justice Award to Dr. Michael J. Sorrell, president of Paul Quinn College, during the 24th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon on January 18 at the Belo Mansion in Dallas.
The award is presented to local leaders whose lives and practices exemplify the principles embodied by Dr. King’s leadership. Former recipients include the late Hon. Barefoot Sanders, Senator Royce West, Mayor Ron Kirk, Kim Askew, Rhonda Hunter, E. Leon Carter, Dr. Walter Sutton Jr., and Justice Carolyn Wright.
Dr. Sorrell has been named as one of Washington Monthly’s 10 most innovative college presidents in the U.S. and has received numerous awards for his outstanding contributions to the Dallas legal community, including both the President’s and C.B. Bunkley awards from the J.L. Turner Legal Association and the Dallas Business Journal’s Minority Business Leaders Award.
