GalaThe Texas Access to Justice Commission will host its annual Champions of Justice Gala to benefit legal services for low-income veterans at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the AT&T Executive Education & Conference Center in Austin.

The gala will feature guest speaker Gen. Peter Pace, who served as the 16th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and dedicated more than 40 years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps.

The gala also will celebrate the Texas Access to Justice Commission’s 15th Anniversary and highlight its efforts to make the justice system more accessible for low-income Texans.

At the event, the James B. Sales Boots on the Ground Award will be presented to attorney Bronwyn Blake, legal director at Texas Advocacy Project. The award recognizes a legal services program attorney or pro bono attorney who gives selflessly to provide legal help to low-income Texans. Ms. Blake has dedicated more than a decade to improving the lives of domestic violence survivors in Texas.

Additionally, all justices of the Supreme Court of Texas will attend to applaud and recognize the efforts of everyone involved.
