For Random Profiles, we randomly pick one of our 93,000-plus attorneys and do a Q&A. We’ve found that every Texas lawyer has an interesting story. Will yours be next?

Most important career lesson: I have tried to keep legal services affordable, which has resulted in longstanding loyal clients who appreciate what I do for them.

Bet you didn’t know: I swam 1.5 miles in San Francisco Bay from Alcatraz Island to Aquatic Park last summer in the 20th annual Sharkfest Alcatraz swim.

What kind of car do you drive? An all-electric, zero emission Nissan Leaf

Age: 59

Family: I am married to Terry McGinty, former court reporter and now captionist, who happened to close caption the first local news broadcast in the State of Texas. Needless to say, I’m proud of her, and she’s much more interesting than me. We have two daughters, one living in Berkeley, CA and working for Berkeley Repertory Theater, and another finishing her junior year at Parsons School of Design in New York City.

Areas of practice: Real estate, business, and wills and probate. I am a closing attorney with Chicago Title.

Education: BA, The Johns Hopkins University; MPA, LBJ School of Public Affairs; JD, University of Texas School of Law.

Culinary talent: I’ve been baking bread pretty much every week or so since I was in college.

Community Involvement: I’ve been president of Friends of Deep Eddy, Inc. since 2003 and spearheaded the restoration of the Deep Eddy Bathhouse which was completed in 2007. I continue to work with City of Austin Aquatics to make Deep Eddy Pool the finest place to swim in the United States (or at least Texas).

When they do the film about you, what actor should portray you? My daughters would say Steve Martin or Harrison Ford because they believe I could be separated at birth from either one.

Secret for staying young: Swimming daily and consuming a reasonable amount of single malt scotch every now and then

Favorite movie: Singing in the Rain. I never tire of watching that movie.

Generally likes to read: The New Yorker keeps me plenty busy in the reading for pleasure department.

Memorable vacation: Just got back from Vietnam and Cambodia. But our favorite place would be the Canadian Rockies.

If you weren’t an attorney, what profession do you think you would be in? Photography or archeology

When you are not practicing law, what do you like to do? Spend time with my family and travel
